73rd Independence Day of India

The 73rd Independence Day of India was observed by Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy on the morning of August 15, 2019. The monsoon morning failed to daunt the celebratory mood as the rhythmic drum roll and cadenced conch shells accompanied the unfurling of the Tricolor by Very Rev. Fr. Movses Sargsyan, in the presence of the entire ACPA family.

The celebration in the auditorium commenced with the singing of the Indian National Anthem, the Armenian National Anthem and the School Anthem. The celebration continued with an audio-visual presentation on eminent personalities who inspired patriotism in the hearts of the millions culminating in liberation of India, from the shackles of British rule. This was followed by a short film on the transfer of power and the resultant partition of the country into two political dominions – India and Pakistan.

The children then presented two patriotic songs, one in Urdu and the other in Bangla under the able guidance of the music teacher, Mrs Narine Davtyan. Next, a popular Hindi patriotic song was elegantly choreographed and performed by two members of the teaching staff.

Very Rev. Fr. Movses Sargsyan delivered a speech, in which he stressed upon the importance of ‘Freedom’ for a nation, on the cordial relation between Armenia and India and hoped for a sustained amicable relationship between the two Nations. He concluded his speech by congratulating all on this auspicious occasion.
